A full and unconditional pardon will eliminate a federal or state conviction for immigration purposes. While the immigration statute limits pardons to aggravated felonies, crimes of moral turpitude, and convictions of high speed chase from an immigration checkpoint, there is an argument that a pardon is effective to eliminate any deportable conviction.
