§ 2.14 F. Checklist of All Deportation Grounds

For more text, click "Next Page>"

Appendix A contains a checklist of all grounds of deportation.  It is organized in four categories: criminal grounds, immigration grounds, immigration status grounds, and security grounds.  The final word of the name of each ground of deportation provides a signal indicating whether the ground of deportation requires a conviction, or a court or administrative finding, or proof of certain conduct.  The statute defining the ground of deportation is summarized, any exceptions noted, and any waiver described.  See Appendix A, infra.

To be sure that a given disposition in a criminal case does not trigger deportation, it is necessary to go over the checklist carefully.
