This book lists many judicial decisions holding that a given conviction is not a crime of moral turpitude or an aggravated felony conviction. See Chapter 8, infra. These decisions are the beginning points for legal research to determine whether a given disposition is or is not a safe haven, and, if so, how safe a haven it is. See § 1.13, infra.
In addition, counsel must keep in mind that this work covers a limited topic: how to identify and construct a safe haven disposition in a criminal case that will not trigger any conviction-based ground of deportation. This book does not cover:
